Thin wear layers usually shouldn't be sanded at all. We measure the wear layer with a digital caliper — the same process as our engineered hardwood refinishing specialty — and recommend a screen and recoat when that's the honest answer.

Most of Maryland's bamboo flooring went into homes in Montgomery County — Bethesda, Rockville, Silver Spring, Potomac, Chevy Chase — and Howard County — Columbia and Ellicott City — during the eco-building wave of the 2000s and 2010s. Those floors are now 10–20 years old: sun-faded near the sliders, scratched at the entries, worn in the kitchen lanes. That's exactly the work we do.
